Sainte-Barbe: a tradition revisited in Esch
The National Centre for Industrial Culture (CNCI) and the Kulturfabrik are joining forces for the second time to revive the tradition of Sainte-Barbe, the iconic festival of miners and firefighters.
The evening of 5 December promises to be festive and memorable! On the programme: a night market featuring local creators, with a few workshops along the way, a parade by the Harmonie des Mineurs, musical performances, a blacksmithing demonstration, a screening of the short film 79 jours and even a craft beer created for the occasion, to be enjoyed with a Louis pitance!
A free evening, open to all, to celebrate the industrial history of the Minett region with creativity and conviviality, and thus pass on this heritage to younger generations.

Pascal Schumacher (vibraphone), Greg Lamy (guitar), Marc Demuth (double bass) and Jeff Herr (drums) are getting together at De Gudde Wëllen for an exceptional end-of-year concert. On the programme: a vibrant mix of original compositions, jazz standards and daring covers of pop songs, in a resolutely contemporary Modern Groove Jazz style. An evening celebrating the richness of the Luxembourg music scene and the chemistry between these four musicians, which promises to be a highlight of the end of the year.
Musée national de la résistance et des droits humains
Place de la Résistance L-4041 Esch-sur-Alzette
toute l’année
The permanent trilingual exhibition (French, German, English) traces the period of the Second World War: the interwar years, life under dictatorship, repression and the reactions of the population, Nazi structures, concentration camps, the Holocaust and the post-war period. A section devoted to human rights and civil resistance completes the tour.
The museum also includes a memorial area with urns containing soil from various concentration camps and the sculpture ‘The Political Prisoner’ by Lucien Wercollier.
Temporary exhibitions are regularly added to this permanent exhibition, exploring certain themes in greater depth or offering contemporary perspectives on memory and history.
