A performance by Anne Havik as part of the group exhibition Theatre of Cruelty

Who am I?

Artist(s) Anne Havik

Antonin Artaud saw theater as frozen, preserved like a mummy: a soulless, immobile body, kept alive by habit.
What if this mummification concerned not only theater, but also our ways of existing together?
Such is our society, where everyone plays their role, where certain bodies, certain gazes
are frozen, locked into an image and set aside.
Who are we when play becomes the rule and life withdraws from the body?
This performance traverses the exhibition, invoking Antonin Artaud
and the objects that inhabit his texts. It is an attempt to make the frozen speak, to shift gazes,
and to reach what still resists.

Due to the nature of some of the themes addressed, the performance is reserved for adult audiences.

Konschthal Esch/Alzette

Kulturfabrik , 116, rue de Luxembourg
L-4221 Esch-sur-Alzette

5 décembre 2025 de 17-22h

Since opening in 2021 ahead of Esch2022 – European Capital of Culture – the Konschthal Esch has established itself as a must-see venue for contemporary art in the Greater Region. This internationally renowned institution offers a program of monographic and thematic exhibitions, which is regularly updated and accessible free of charge.

Designed as a space for creation and dialogue, the Konschthal focuses on the production of new works, immersive museography, and participatory mediation formats that encourage the active involvement of all audiences. It supports both established and emerging artists, in close connection with contemporary artistic and societal issues.

Housed in a former industrial building covering 2,400 m² spread over four floors, the Konschthal stands out for its raw and unique architecture, far removed from the traditional codes of the “White Cube,” where concrete and metal structures provide a unique setting for exhibitions.
