Centre des Monuments: discover the castles of Beaufort and Larochette

The Centre des Monuments du Grand-Duché de Luxembourg is responsible for managing, enhancing and promoting several state-owned castles and heritage sites. It also develops a cultural programme to bring these historic places to life and make them accessible to a wide range of audiences.

The castles of Beaufort

In Beaufort, two castles reflect different periods of history: the impressive ruins of the medieval castle and, right next to them, the Renaissance castle built in the 17th century.

The medieval ruins can be explored freely, while the Renaissance residence can be visited as part of a guided tour. The estate also preserves the tradition of Cassero, a blackcurrant liqueur that has been produced in the castle cellars since 1932.

Larochette Castle

Perched on a rocky outcrop around 50 metres above the town, the ruins of Larochette Castle overlook the valley and offer an impressive setting. The earliest occupation of the site dates back to the 8th century, while the first stone castle was built in the 12th century. Several noble residences once stood within its walls before a fire destroyed a large part of the site around 1565.

Today, Beaufort and Larochette host visits, exhibitions, concerts and a variety of cultural activities, offering visitors the opportunity to discover Luxembourg’s heritage in a lively setting.

Admission to the medieval ruins of Beaufort and Larochette Castle is free with the Kulturpass. Guided tours of the Renaissance castle in Beaufort and private guided tours are subject to an additional charge.

Theaterfest 2026: the performing arts take over Place d’Armes

On Friday, 18 September 2026, the THEATER FEDERATIOUN invites you to Place d’Armes, in the heart of Luxembourg City, for a new edition of Theaterfest.

From 12 noon to 7 pm, this festive event will mark the launch of Luxembourg’s new theatre and dance season. Visitors will be able to discover upcoming projects, meet artists and professional teams, and learn more about the richness and diversity of Luxembourg’s performing arts scene.

Since 2008, the THEATER FEDERATIOUN has organised Theaterfest every year, and it has become a key event marking the start of the cultural season.

Here are the 23 members of the THEATER FEDERATIOUN:

Municipal theatres: Escher Theater and Théâtres de la Ville de Luxembourg.
Private theatres: Théâtre Ouvert Luxembourg – TOL, Théâtre National du Luxembourg – TNL, Théâtre du Centaure and Kasemattentheater.
Regional cultural centres: ArcA, Mierscher Theater, Kulturhaus Niederanven, Kinneksbond, Cube 521, CAPE – Centre des Arts Pluriels Ettelbruck and Kulturfabrik.
Centres and organisations dedicated to specific artistic disciplines: neimënster – Centre Culturel de Rencontre Abbaye de Neumünster, Rotondes and TROIS C-L – Maison pour la Danse.
Independent companies: Eddi van Tsui, Bombyx, Fundamental asbl, PROJETEN, MASKéNADA, Kaleidoskop-Theater and Compagnie du Grand Boube.

Through their diversity, these 23 organisations contribute to the vitality of the performing arts in Luxembourg. Their programmes include theatre, dance, opera, musical theatre, performances for young audiences, live performances and numerous interdisciplinary projects in the different languages of Luxembourg’s cultural scene.

Theaterfest offers the public a unique opportunity to discover this vibrant ecosystem, meet the people who bring it to life and celebrate the start of a new season together. An artistic programme will also run throughout the day in a festive and welcoming atmosphere.

Whether you are passionate about theatre and dance, a cultural professional, a family or simply curious, everyone is invited to come and discover the many faces of the performing arts in Luxembourg.

Swing the Abbey 2026

From 18 to 20 September 2026, Neumünster Abbey will come alive to the rhythm of jazz for Swing the Abbey, a festival dedicated to Lindy Hop, Solo Jazz and the different forms of swing dance. Organised by Swing Dance Luxembourg, the event brings together dancers and teachers from different countries for three days.

The programme includes classes for different levels, themed workshops and dance evenings with live music. An introductory Lindy Hop class will also take place on Sunday for anyone who would like to discover the dance with no previous experience. Classes are held in small groups to encourage learning, interaction and a friendly atmosphere.

In the historic setting of neimënster, Swing the Abbey invites everyone to discover swing culture, develop their dance practice and share the dance floor in an open and welcoming atmosphere.

Bric(k)ollage – Create an architectural landscape

What if Luxembourg’s most remarkable buildings were brought together in a single landscape?

After discovering the projects presented in the exhibition dedicated to the Luxembourg Architecture Award 2026, create your own architectural landscape using the images that inspired you most.

Cut out, assemble and combine buildings, public spaces and landscapes to imagine a city, neighbourhood or skyline where different architectural projects come together in unexpected ways.

Open to everyone, this workshop invites participants to experiment, reinterpret and invent. Each collage becomes a new way of looking at, imagining and telling stories about architecture.

The workshop will end with a relaxed moment to discover everyone’s creations, exchange ideas and continue exploring the exhibition together.

Blues Against the Machine at Aalt Stadhaus

Bring together five leading artists from the European blues-rock scene, all of whom have been performing for more than twenty years, and you get Blues Against the Machine: a powerful, tight-knit band driven by a genuine desire to push the boundaries of the genre.

The line-up features Budda Guedes from Portugal on vocals and guitar, Bart Szopinski from Poland on piano, Hammond organ and vocals, Danny del Toro from Spain on harmonica and vocals, Vasco Moura from Portugal on bass and vocals, and Nik Taccori from Italy on drums and vocals.

Each musician brings their own experience, musical world and cultural background to a shared project with a strong identity. Their debut album, produced by Budda Guedes, captures this collective energy and their ambition to create music that feels both fresh and deeply rooted in the blues tradition.

On stage, the band takes the audience on an explosive journey through blues, jump, boogie and rock’n’roll. It is a musical encounter between Portugal, Spain, Poland and Italy, bringing the roots of the blues into dialogue with a distinctly contemporary approach.
